Push through and the halves swing apart; behind you the magnets find each other again and the seam shuts. Nobody has to put a hand out, which is the whole point when you are carrying washing or a tray.\n\nMeasuring your doorway\n\nMeasure the door FRAME, not the door, and take the width from the left of the frame to the right and the height from the floor to the top. Then add 2 centimetres at the top and 2 centimetres each side, because the stitched velcro strip needs somewhere to land. If your doorway sits between two of our sizes, go up.\n\nFitting it\n\nClean the frame, press the velcro strip around it, then press the screen on from the top down so the mesh hangs straight. Push pins come in the kit and are worth using at the corners and halfway down, especially on an older frame or one that has been painted several times.\n\nBlack or white\n\nBlack mesh vanishes against a bright outdoor view and is the more common choice. White reads better against a white frame from outside. Both are the same mesh and, size for size, close to the same money.\n\nKids, dogs and cats\n\nThe mesh is light enough that a child or a small dog pushes through without help, and it closes behind them the same way it closes behind you. That is usually the reason people buy a second one for the back door.",
