Buying Guide

Buying by the roll

A roll is the right buy when you are rescreening more than two or three windows, enclosing a patio, or keeping stock on hand. Work out the widest opening you have and buy a roll at least that wide, because you can always cut a wide roll down and you cannot make a narrow one bigger.

Why fibreglass rather than aluminium

Aluminium creases the moment you look at it wrong, and a crease is permanent. Fibreglass is flexible, it comes off the roll flat, and a mistake while you are splining it is recoverable. It also will not rust or corrode, which matters near the coast.

The sun side of it

The 18 x 16 weave blocks about three quarters of UV, so a screened west facing window is noticeably cooler in the afternoon than an unscreened one.
