Magnetic Screen Company | Magnetic Screen Business | Budget Screens
DIY insect screens for windows and doors, shipped right across Australia.
Why we sell screens you cut yourself
Most window screens are sold as a measurement. Somebody comes out, measures the opening, and three weeks later a made-to-order frame arrives that fits one window in one house and nothing else.
That is a fine way to buy a screen and it is not the only way. Everything here is a stock size you order one step ABOVE your opening and cut down at home with a blade or a strong pair of scissors. No measuring service, no tradesman, no three weeks.
Nothing drilled, nothing left behind
The magnetic screen sticks to a 3M backed strip on the window frame. The velcro edged screen and the cat proof screen use a continuous self adhesive hook and loop tape. The door screen fits inside the frame with velcro and push pins.
None of it needs a drill, and all of it comes away again. That is the part that matters if you rent, and it is why a lot of these go into apartments that came with no screens at all.
Being straight about what it is
A mesh screen is not a security screen and it is not an airtight seal. It stops what flies into an open window or doorway, which is what most people actually want in summer.
Where a figure is not published we say so rather than estimate it. The mesh specifications on these pages are the ones our supplier publishes: 18 x 16 standard, 20 x 20 midge, 10 x 16 pet proof, with the thread diameters and open areas beside them.

Frequently asked questions
Who are you?
Budget Screens, an Australian online shop selling DIY insect screens for windows and doors direct to the public. We are a division of BuyFactory Direct Pty Ltd, ABN 30 656 628 938.
Where are you based?
Our administration office is Suite 307, Norwest Central, 12 Century Circuit, Norwest NSW 2153. We are an online shop, so there is no showroom or trade counter to visit.
Do you have a shop I can walk into?
No. Everything is sold online and delivered, which is a large part of why the prices are where they are.
Do you make screens to measure?
No. Every size listed is a stock size. You order the size above your opening and cut it down, which takes a blade or strong scissors and about ten minutes. If nothing we stock covers your opening, the custom quote pages are the place to ask.
What do you actually sell?
Window screens in three fitting systems, a self closing magnetic door screen, an aluminium chain curtain, replacement mesh, PVC frame and magnetic strip by the metre, corner sets, three swatters and a mosquito bed canopy. Fourteen products in ninety-eight sizes and combinations.
What mesh do you use?
Three. Standard is 18 x 16 fibreglass in grey, 66% open area. Midge is a tighter 20 x 20 in black for no-see-ums and sand flies, 45% open area. Pet proof is 10 x 16 vinyl coated polyester that resists claws.
Which frame colours are there?
Black, white and brown on the magnetic window screen, PVC frame and corner sets. Black or white edging on the velcro and cat proof screens. Black or white on the door screen.
Do you deliver anywhere else?
No, Australia only.
How much is delivery?
Free on orders of $100 or more, and a flat $27.50 below that, which is also the express rate. All prices include GST.
How long does delivery take?
5 to 7 days to your door, after a 24 to 48 hour handling time.
What payment methods do you take?
Credit and debit cards through Stripe, and PayPal.
Can I return something?
Yes. 30 days from delivery for an unused item in its original packaging. That is separate from the consumer guarantees in the Australian Consumer Law, which cover faulty, misdescribed or unfit goods and cannot be excluded.
Do you sell to trade?
Yes. Tell us the quantities on the wholesale page and we will quote you.
Is a screen the same as a security screen?
No. A mesh screen stops insects. It is not a barrier and it is not sold as one.
How do I get hold of a person?
Email us and a person answers, usually within one working day. There is also an international call centre number on the contact page.
