What do our customers say?
Company-wide reviews published on Trustpilot. Every public rating is included.
Great service and product. This flyscreen is easy to install and works really well keeping Flys out of the house. The cats are still able to get out their cat flap too. Much sturdier fabric then what you can buy at Bunnings or Mitre 10. Highly recommended
Not only is the screen fantastic, I don't think I have ever had better customer service and communications in my long life.
Thank you so Budget Screens, I'll be a customer my whole life.
Keep up the great work.

The most satisfied i have been with a product in a long time. They delivered above expectations. I was looking for a fly screen and ordered with bespoke measurements to fit my sliding door. Their instructions were very clear and the product fits perfectly. Materials are robust, magnets are strong and it looks very good now that it is installed. So much crap is sold online, this company is a stand out. I am a very satisfied customer ( and now flies free:))
I needed a simple to install, simple to use product, to combat incessant flies coming in through our upstairs balcony in Brisbane. The door being open is essential for the all important breeze, but the flies were unwelcome. Magnetic options were not ideal, and traditional fly screen mesh blocks the breeze. Amazingly, the dangling chains block no breeze, do not block the view much as the loops in the chain are quite open, and not a single fly!!! And I can just unhook it and take it down if I do not want it there all the time. Also amazingly, this product was delivered in just a few days, in the days before Christmas. Tick, tick, tick. Highly recommend the product and company for prompt service.
I have ordered 3 screens from the magnetic door company. They are on the outside of my house and I leave them up all summer. They last about 2 years with the wear and tear but I would recommend them - they keep the mosquitos and flies out and are simple to use and do not detract from my view
Fantastic screen door, perfect for the dog to get in and out. Made to the exact custom measurements I asked for. Great quality material. Very friendly, responsive customer service and communication when ordering
this is the second time I have purchased a custom made fly screen for my bifolding doors in the kitchen. the service was great, the installation process was simple. my first flyscreen lasted several years and hopefully this one will last even longer.
I would definitely recommend the screen door company,we ordered our fly screen with no issues,it was quick and simple to order and arrived a week early,it was easy to put up and we love it

It replaces the rigid frame. A continuous 1.98 centimetre self adhesive hook and loop strip runs all four sides of the screen, so it follows the shape of the opening instead of forcing the opening to be a rectangle.
Will it fit an arched or angled window?
Yes, and that is the reason to choose it over the magnetic screen. Tape bends where a PVC frame cannot, so an arch, a splayed reveal or a window with a handle in the way all take a screen.
Which mesh should I choose?
Standard 18 x 16 grey for everyday flies and mosquitoes. Midge mesh, a tighter 20 x 20 black weave, if you get no-see-ums, gnats or sand flies, which usually means you are near water or on the coast. Pet proof 10 x 16 if you have a cat or a dog.
What is midge mesh?
A 20 x 20 thread per square inch fibreglass, also sold as no-see-um screen. It is woven tight enough to stop the very small biting insects that walk straight through standard mesh, and it still ventilates: the open area is 45% against 66% for standard.
Does the tighter midge mesh cut the airflow?
A little. The open area is 45% rather than 66%, so you trade some breeze for stopping much smaller insects. It also gives you a bit more daytime privacy.
What is pet proof mesh made of?
Heavy duty vinyl coated polyester yarn at a 10 x 16 weave, which is considerably stronger than fibreglass and is the answer to claw damage from a cat or a dog.
What size do I order?
The size above your opening. The three are 100 x 100, 150 x 150 and 200 x 200 centimetres, and you cut the screen down to the window.
How do I cut it?
A blade or a strong pair of scissors. Cut with about a centimetre spare beyond the edging and work slowly the first time.
Does the edging come in different colours?
Black or white. Pick the one closest to your window frame.
How do I fit it?
Clean the frame first, press the loop side around the opening, then press the screen onto it working from one corner across to the opposite corner so the mesh pulls flat rather than bagging.
Why does the frame need cleaning first?
Adhesive sticks to dust rather than to the frame, and adhesive on dust is what lets go halfway through summer. A wipe with methylated spirits and a dry cloth is enough.
Can I take it off and put it back?
Yes. Hook and loop is designed to separate and re-join, so the screen comes off for cleaning or for winter and goes back on the same tape.
Will it mark a rental window?
It is made to come away cleanly. Peel it slowly and warm the tape first in cold weather. On a painted frame, let new paint cure fully before fitting.
How thick is the finished screen?
Slim. The edging is a 1.98 centimetre strip and there is no frame standing proud of the glass, so it sits almost flush and is discreet from outside.
How do I clean the screen?
Peel it off, wipe it with a damp cloth or vacuum it with a brush head, and press it back on.
Can I store it over winter?
Yes. Take it down, store it flat or loosely rolled, and keep the tape clean so it grips again in spring.
What if my window is bigger than 200 x 200?
Ask for a quote on the custom window screen page.
Can I use it on a door?
It is a window screen. For a doorway you want the magnetic screen door, which splits down the middle and closes itself behind you.
Is the mesh see through?
Standard grey is the most see through of the three. Midge mesh is darker and tighter, and pet mesh is the heaviest, so visibility drops a little as the mesh gets stronger.
Will pet mesh still stop insects?
Yes. It stops flies, mosquitoes and other flying insects as well as resisting claws.
Is the mesh flammable?
The fibreglass meshes are non combustible and will not rust, corrode or stain.
Can I buy replacement mesh on its own?
Yes, in all three types, as a cut piece in three sizes on the screen mesh page, or by the roll if you have several windows to do.
Can I put two different meshes on two windows?
Yes. Each screen is ordered separately, so you can put pet mesh where the cat sits and standard mesh everywhere else.
Does it come with instructions?
Yes, and the product page carries a fitting video. Watch it before you cut.
What does delivery cost?
Delivery is free anywhere in Australia on orders of $100 or more. Below that it is a flat $27.50, which is also the express rate, so one price covers the order however many items are in it.
How long does delivery take?
Allow 5 to 7 days to your door, after a 24 to 48 hour handling and processing time on our end.
Do you deliver outside Australia?
No. We deliver within Australia only.
Do your prices include GST?
Yes. Every price on the site is the GST inclusive price, and the free delivery threshold is measured on the GST inclusive total too.
Can I return it if I change my mind?
Yes. You have 30 days to return an unused item in its original packaging for a refund. Nothing here affects your rights under the Australian Consumer Law if the screen is faulty, not fit for purpose or not as described.
How do I track my order?
Use the tracking code from your confirmation email on our Track Your Parcel page.

Why velcro instead of a frame
A magnetic frame needs a flat, straight run to stick to. Plenty of windows do not have one. The velcro screen carries its edging as tape sewn to the mesh, so it follows an arch, a splayed reveal or a window with a handle in the way, and it sits almost flush against the glass because there is no frame to stand proud.
Choosing the mesh
Standard grey 18 x 16 is the everyday mesh and it stops flies and mosquitoes. Midge mesh is a tighter 20 x 20 weave in black, made for no-see-ums, gnats and sand flies, which is what you want near water or on the coast. Pet mesh is a 10 x 16 vinyl coated polyester, several times stronger than fibreglass, and it is the one that survives a cat.
Fitting it
Clean the frame first, because adhesive on dust is adhesive that lets go in February. Press the loop side around the opening, press the screen onto it, and work from one corner to the opposite one so the mesh pulls flat rather than bagging.
Taking it down
It peels off and goes back on, which is the point. Store it flat or rolled, and keep the tape clean. On a painted frame take it slowly and warm the tape first if the weather is cold.
